NSU Hires Kacie Ehinger as Volleyball Head Coach

FORT LAUDERDALE, FL. – Nova Southeastern University Director of Athletics and Associate Vice President of Advancement Michael Mominey announced the hiring of Kacie Ehinger as the head coach of the NSU Volleyball team on Friday afternoon. Ehinger becomes the 13th Head Coach of the volleyball program since its inception in 1985.

“I would like to welcome Kacie to our Shark Athletic family, and I absolutely believe that she will continue the tradition of success of our women’s volleyball program,” stated Mominey. “As a leader, her philosophy, experience and background align with our overall program mission as well as the goals of our highly driven and accomplished volleyball student-athletes.”

Ehinger comes to Nova Southeastern after three seasons at Baldwin Wallace (Ohio), where she led the Yellow Jackets to a 56-22 record. In addition to her role as the head coach at BW, Ehinger also worked as the compliance officer for the athletics department.

“I am excited to join the Nova Southeastern family! I’d like to thank [Athletic Director] Mike Mominey, [Associate Athletic Director] Danielle Daniel, and the rest of the search committee for the opportunity to lead the program,” said Ehinger. “When I first arrived on campus, I knew that NSU was a special place, and I can’t wait to get started.”

As the head coach at Baldwin Wallace, Ehinger mentored 11 All-Ohio Athletic Conference student-athletes and placed a total of 28 on the OAC All-Academic team. During her final season at BW, the Yellowjackets ended the season with a 19-10 record, winning 12 consecutive matches from Sept. 7 through Sept. 25, and capturing a pair of tournament crowns. In the spring season of 2021, Ehinger guided BW on an eight-match winning streak and had the club receiving votes for five straight weeks in the AVCA (American Volleyball Coaches Association) Coaches’ Poll.

Nova Southeastern Volleyball re-established itself on the national stage in 2021, advancing to the NCAA National Tournament for the first-time since 2009. The Sharks finished the season with a record of 25-6, going 15-1 at the Rick Case Arena. NSU began the campaign with a 13-match winning streak, marking a program record to start a season, and set a new program-high with 19 consecutive wins – dating back to 2019. The Sharks also featured three AVCA All-Americans, as Marianna FioccoAlex Psoma and Elizabeth Price were all honored.

“[Former Head Coach] Brian Rosen did an excellent job building this program into a national contender, and I look forward to continuing that growth. Go Sharks!” continued Ehinger.

Prior to Baldwin Wallace, Ehinger coached previously at Akron, Lamar, Marist, Siena Heights, Adrian and Defiance. Ehinger played collegiately at Adrian, serving as the team captain from 2003-06.

Ehinger holds a Masters’ degree in Education-Sports Science from Defiance and a bachelor’s in health, Physical Education and Recreation, as well as a Minor in Business Administration, from Adrian College.
