USchool Living Lab and Gardens Honored for Wildlife Efforts

NSU University School is excited to announce that our preschool’s outdoor living lab and gardens have been recognized as a Certified Schoolyard Habitat by the National Wildlife Federation!

This designation is granted to schools that create havens for wildlife that provide the essential elements for healthy and sustainable wildlife habitats. We look forward to continuing to use our school garden as a powerful educational tool where our youngest Sharks can enjoy learning outdoors and connect with nature.

NSU University School Students Selected As Business Fellows

NSU University School is proud to congratulate our inaugural cohort of Business Fellows. Our fellows are Madison Davidovic, Ariel Perczek, Noah Perry, Veronica Benarroch, Ria Batta, Jaell-Ann Auguste, Amanda Landau, Dana Wrubel, Ryan Wooflson, David Delarosa, Ethan Esquenazi, and Diego Andaluz.

Through a partnership with the NSU’s H. Wayne Huizenga College of Business and Entrepreneurship, these students are working directly with professors and students at the college and experiencing different industries and career opportunities in the subjects of accounting, finance, management, marketing, entrepreneurship, real estate, and sports management.

These Upper School Fellows recently visited the Alan B. Levan NSU Broward Center of Innovation and explored its many entrepreneurial resources including the Cybersecurity Range, Media Production Studio, Levl5: Space Dock, and North Star Pitch Room among other spaces.

University School Students Win 2022 Pinnacle Awards

NSU University School is proud to congratulate three of our exemplary students – Zoe Rodriguez, Jeffrey Zhang, and Madison Davis – on being named Pinnacle Award winners by the Broward County Non-Public School Association!

This award is given to students who set an example for others to follow in their actions at school, home, or in the community. They excel in one or more of these areas: academics, community service, citizenship, fine arts, athletics, student activities, perseverance, effort, dedication, commitment to positive goals, improvement in performance, and attitude.

Fellowship Gives Students Hands-On Experience

NSU University School students selected to participate in the Dr. Kiran C. Patel College of Osteopathic Medicine (NSU-KPCOM) Fellowship have been participating in unique hands-on learning experiences throughout the school year.

During a recent medical simulation lab, our Medical Fellows worked with Dr. Noel Alonso and Nova Southeastern University medical students to practice performing tracheal intubation and assessing patient vital signs including blood pressure and respiration rate. This yearlong fellowship allows students to interact with NSU medical professionals and continue to learn and grow during this educational adventure.

10 USchool Seniors Chosen as Silver Knight Award Finalists

NSU University School is proud to congratulate 10 of our seniors who have been selected as nominees for the Miami Herald Silver Knight Awards – one of the nation’s most highly regarded student awards programs that recognizes outstanding students for their community service and academic achievements.

All nominees from Miami-Dade and Broward County schools will be interviewed by a panel of independent judges who will select one Silver Knight and three Honorable Mentions in various categories. The Silver Knight program culminates with a formal awards ceremony in the spring where all the nominees are recognized and the Silver Knights and Honorable Mentions are announced.

College of Business Establishes New Fellowship with USchool

The NSU H. Wayne Huizenga College of Business and Entrepreneurship and NSU University School are set to launch a new partnership in the form of a fellowship this spring. Twelve high-achieving Upper School students from USchool have been selected from more than 60 applications for this highly anticipated program. “USchool has been building specialized fellowship programs since 2017 with different colleges at NSU, starting with the Dr. Kiran Patel College of Osteopathic Medicine and then adding the Shepard Broad College of Law in 2018. We are so proud to be adding this third partnership with the College of Business to our program offerings,” said Samantha Nelson, Director of Experiential Learning at USchool.

The Business Fellowship will begin at the start of 2022 and run from January until May. The fellows will be welcomed during a pinning ceremony with an official Huizenga College pin. Throughout the fellowship, students will be able to experience the different industries and career opportunities in the subjects of accounting, finance, management, marketing, entrepreneurship, real estate, and sports management. They will meet with expert faculty and have VIP invitations to many of the college activities and events with administration. Each week, the fellows will experience different college settings around the university such as the DeSantis building, Mako Hall Shark Cage, and the NSU-Broward Innovation Center. The fellows will also get to work with Huizenga Academy students as well as career services.

To conclude the fellowship journey, the USchool students will present their career path projects at a final Shark Showcase and celebration! This new era of innovation is the perfect time for this partnership. The goal is to prepare these passionate and curious students for college and beyond. The Dean, faculty, administration, staff, and students at the business college are looking forward to giving the USchool fellows a taste of the real business college experience. Go Sharks!

USchool Robotics Students Win Multiple Awards

NSU University School congratulates our Robotics teams who competed in their first Robotics tournament of the year bringing home multiple awards including Tournament Champions! USchool Robotics team 4154X also brought home the VEX Robotics Excellence Award and Team 4154Z earned the Amaze Award. Great work, Sharks! Students Chosen as National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists

NSU University School is incredibly proud to congratulate four of our academically talented seniors — Madison Draizin, Zachary Hardgrave, Nikki Steinberg, and Brian Zhi — on being selected as 2022 National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists! They are among 16,000 of the highest-scoring program entrants, representing less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors, who qualified as semifinalists for their exceptional academic ability and potential for success in rigorous college studies.

Semifinalists will have an opportunity to continue in the competition to attain finalist standing and qualify for winner recognition as well as National Merit Scholarships that will be awarded in spring 2022.
