The Nova Southeastern Sharks baseball team is coming off a 35-16 campaign last season, going three games deep in the NCAA Division II South Regional Championships – the team’s fourth straight – and announced on Friday the 2019 slate under ninth-year head coach Greg Brown. FULL RELEASE

With the 2019 NCAA Division II baseball season just over the horizon, the Nova Southeastern Sharks earned a No. 20 preseason ranking in the annual poll by Collegiate Baseball News, while seniors Samuel Duran and Christian Demby received individual recognition from the national publication. For the second time in as many years, Nova Southeastern point guard David Dennis has been selected to the Bevo Francis Award Top 100 Watch List, announced by Small College Basketball. The prestigious honor recognizes the cream of the crop nationwide throughout both NCAA Divisions II and Division III, NAIA Divisions I and II, as well as the USCAA and NCCAA. FULL RELEASE

Nova Southeastern University Director of Athletics Michael Mominey recently announced Brian Rosen has been hired to take over the Sharks volleyball program. Rosen becomes the 12th head coach since the program’s inception in 1985. FULL RELEASE
In search of its third consecutive Sunshine State Conference championship, and fourth NCAA Division II national title this decade, the Nova Southeastern women’s golf team is set to tee off its anticipated spring season on Feb. 3 at the World Golf Invitational, hosted by Flagler.
Following a highly impressive 2017-18 campaign in which they collected eight tournament victories, the Sharks picked up right where they left off with two wins in just four events this past fall. Head coach Heather Wall‘s group beat out a heavy Division I field to capture the Jacksonville Classic before rolling to a 12-shot victory at its very own Shark Invitational in the second week of October. In the midst of all the team success, All-American Sophie Madden rose all the way to No. 1 in the player rankings thanks to a pair of individual wins, and will look to carry Nova Southeastern once again this spring with a roster that features just two seniors.
The Sharks will compete in five regular season tournaments overall this season, following up the World Golf Invitational with a trip to Lakeland, Fla. for the Lady Moc Classic on Feb. 18-19. After hanging around Central Florida throughout February, Nova Southeastern will head cross-country in mid-March for the Cal State San Marcos Women’s Invitational, held at Shadowridge Golf Club. Two weeks later, the Sharks will make their way to Miami Lakes for the Barry Invitational, with the regular season slate set to wrap up at the Argonaut Invitational on Apr. 1-2.
Lake Jovita Golf & Country Club in Saint Leo, Fla. will be the host site for the 2019 SSC Championship from Apr. 14-16. The NCAA South Super Regional will be played out from May 6-8 in Cleveland, Tenn., while the 2019 national champion will be decided nearby at PGA National Golf Club throughout May 15-18.
With his team continuing its torrid start to the 2018-19 campaign, Nova Southeastern head coach Jim Crutchfield has been named HoopDirt.com’s Division II Coach of the Week, presented by Just Play Solutions.
Fresh off the NCAA-mandated 10-day layoff, the Sharks still didn’t lose a step, throttling the nation’s No. 7 team in Florida Southern, 117-95, last Saturday. The Moccasins entered the ball game surrendering just 73.6 points per game, yet Crutchfield’s club hung 71 alone in the first half. Nova Southeastern set a new program record with its 10th consecutive victory in the process, and in doing so, also moved to 4-0 in the Sunshine State Conference for the first time since 2008-09.
